Cops to wedding lawn owners: Don’t occupy public space MOHALI: Given the wedding season has arrived and soon it will reach its peak, the traffic police in Zirakpur along with local police are holding meetings with the owners of the wedding lawns to not occupy public spaces. The officials also asked the owners to create sufficient space for parking within their premises. The directives from the cops have been issued to manage the traffic movement in a better and effective way once the wedding season gathers momentum within the next few days. At present, less number of weddings and ceremonial functions are taking place. Zirakpur has a number of wedding venues around the area. Traffic in-charge Zirakpur inspector Manphool Singh said, "We have been holding regular meetings with the marriage hall owners and they have been instructed to keep sufficient parking space and also valet parking to avoid traffic chaos on main roads. Moreover, we have also instructed them that if they don't have sufficient parking space then they should avoid holding parties on their premises." Apart from managing the probable traffic chaos, the cops have also issued an advisory to put a stop on the sound menace in Zirakpur during the wedding season.
